About the role

The Institute of Legal and Political Sciences (ICJP) is seeking a PhD‑level researcher in Law to join the EU‑funded LIFE ECOFORCE project. The role focuses on scientific research, policy development, and capacity‑building activities related to the European Environmental Crime Directive.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate scientific work and manage Work Package 1, including consortium meetings and stakeholder engagement.
  • Conduct legal and comparative research on Articles 3(6)–3(8) of the Environmental Crime Directive, develop operational criteria, and prepare Deliverable D2.1.
  • Analyse administrative and criminal enforcement models across EU Member States and produce Deliverable D2.4.
  • Design training materials for inspectors, judges, prosecutors and maintain the project’s digital training repository (Deliverable D3.4).
  • Produce scientific publications, policy papers, and support dissemination activities such as workshops and conferences.

Required profile

  • PhD in Law (or equivalent) with a strong background in environmental or EU law.
  • Proven experience in comparative legal research and policy analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary international team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (Portuguese optional).
