Network Communication Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

As part of Bosch’s engineering teams in Braga, you will design and develop embedded software that enables reliable communication between vehicle components such as radar, video sensors and automated driving functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software components for automotive network communication (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
• Analyze and troubleshoot communication issues in complex embedded systems.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and global teams to align technical solutions with requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement activities.
• Implement and execute module and integration tests, including hands‑on debugging on target hardware.
• Support the creation of clear and structured technical documentation.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in embedded software development (automotive experience a plus).
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Very good English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C (C++ a plus).
• Good understanding of microcontrollers and debugging tools.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with Ethernet/IP‑based communication.
• Exposure to software testing frameworks such as Google Test.
• Awareness of automotive standards like AUTOSAR, ASPICE and ISO 26262.
