Mid Software Engineer – Backend Services

About the role

As a Mid Software Engineer you will design, build and maintain backend services that power Kuehne+Nagel’s data platform. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable and easy‑to‑integrate solutions that enable faster data product delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs for the data platform.
• Integrate with systems such as Apache Kafka, Snowflake and AWS services.
• Ensure high code quality through testing, code reviews and best‑practice adherence.
• Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Contribute to system design, technical decisions and agile (Scrum) development cycles.

Required profile

• Experience in backend development, preferably with Python, and building REST APIs in distributed systems.
• Knowledge of event‑driven architectures (Kafka) and familiarity with AWS services.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, coding best practices and testing approaches.
• Comfortable working in agile teams with strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
