Metallurgy & Cleanliness Technician – Morning Shift

About the role

The Metallurgy & Cleanliness Technician supports BorgWarner's production plant in Viana by performing metallurgical testing, cleanliness analysis, and laboratory management to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct metallurgy tests and metallographic analyses according to established procedures, validating welding quality, porosity, and defects.
• Perform cleanliness tests and particle detection following ISO 16232 and VDA specifications, and evaluate PPAP samples.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, test instrument calibration, and inventory of test pieces and chemicals.
• Support failure analysis, root‑cause corrective actions, and internal equipment verification.

Required profile

• Secondary education in a technical field; higher education in laboratory sciences preferred.
• Experience preparing metallographic samples (grind, polish, etch) and conducting cleanliness tests.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
• Knowledge of ISO 17025 laboratory standards, calibration uncertainty, and MSA/R&R methods is advantageous.
