Medical Director – Pneumonology (EMEA)

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Medical Director specialized in pneumology to provide medical leadership for clinical trials across the EMEA region. The role involves supporting clients with medical advice, safety evaluation, and ensuring the scientific integrity of studies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead study teams in the design and implementation of clinical trial protocols, incorporating the latest scientific evidence.
• Participate in site selection, review and approval of study documents such as protocols, amendments, CSRs, ICFs, CRFs, and protocol deviation decisions.
• Conduct real‑time medical monitoring to validate primary endpoints and ensure subject safety, escalating issues promptly.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the sponsor and internal PPD departments throughout all study phases.
• Educate and train investigators and site staff on protocol‑specific procedures and laboratory methods.
• Address queries from investigators, IRBs, and health authorities, and prepare materials for executive and safety committees.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant medical and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent expertise in pneumology.
• Extensive experience in clinical trial oversight and medical monitoring.
• Proven ability to provide medical leadership and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with investigators, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.
