Mechanical Package Manager

About the role

Winthrop Technologies is seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to lead the mechanical package on a large‑scale data centre project in Portugal. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the mechanical systems, from design coordination through to installation, testing and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete Mechanical Systems package, ensuring design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning are delivered on schedule.
• Oversee site safety, QHSE culture and subcontractor activities, guaranteeing compliance with company policies.
• Control project schedule, resources and costs, including labour, subcontractors, materials, plant, variations and valuations.
• Maintain snagging systems, documentation and photographic records; produce internal and external progress reports.
• Attend site meetings, support handovers and project close‑out, including O&M manuals, punch lists and safety files.
• Schedule and track material deliveries and manage change impacts on cost and programme.
• Lead weekly commercial meetings to capture variations and issue costs to the client.
• Develop and implement company procedures in coordination with other package managers.

Required profile

• Relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven project management experience on large‑scale mechanical projects, preferably in data centres, pharmaceutical or industrial environments.
• Strong record of coordinating complex mechanical systems and handling industrial relations matters.
• Solid knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and practices.
• Experience in design‑and‑build projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with relevant mechanical design software.
• Technical knowledge of mechanical systems.
