Mechanical Engineer – UAV AR3 Development

About the role

You will join the engineering team responsible for the mechanical development and continuous improvement of the AR3 unmanned aerial vehicle. The position combines design, prototyping, testing and implementation, giving you hands‑on experience with a complex UAV that moves from concept to flight.

Key responsibilities

• Translate engineering requirements into functional, manufacturable mechanical designs.
• Design, adapt and improve components and assemblies using CAD tools.
• Build, modify and test prototypes, iterating based on test results.
• Support product changes from concept through prototyping, testing and production.
• Identify mechanical issues, perform root‑cause analysis and propose practical solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, manufacturing and other teams to bring improvements into production.
• Consider manufacturability, material selection, assembly and fabrication methods throughout the design process.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
• Hands‑on, practical mindset with a willingness to work directly with physical prototypes.
• Proactive, curious and solution‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills.
• Team player comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Caldas da Rainha and Leiria.

Required skills

• Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with fabrication methods such as 3D printing, machining and moulding.
