Mechanical Engineer – Piping & Process Equipment (Hybrid, Lisbon)

About the role

ALTEN Portugal is looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join its Life Sciences team in Lisbon. You will work on GMP‑compliant projects, focusing on piping, valves and process equipment for pharmaceutical clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and monitor mechanical engineering projects in a GMP environment, concentrating on piping systems, valves, process equipment and industrial utilities.
• Prepare technical specifications, calculations and drawings that meet internal, regulatory and safety standards.
• Define project requirements, produce P&IDs, bills of materials and reports, and support supplier monitoring during manufacturing and assembly.
• Evaluate technical proposals, assist in equipment selection and propose mechanical solutions.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, automation, maintenance, quality, production) to ensure successful project delivery.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in industrial or pharmaceutical settings.
• Hands‑on experience with piping systems, valves and process equipment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor or other mechanical design software.
