Mechanical Designer 3 - Nuclear Power

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop mechanical general arrangement, piping isometrics, pipe supports, and equipment layout drawings for nuclear power projects. You will work with Hexagon’s SmartPlant suite to create 3‑D models and deliver high‑quality design documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical general arrangement, piping isometric, pipe support, and equipment layout drawings using SmartPlant S3D.
• Generate BOMs, commodity lists, and design deliverables from the SPF database.
• Interpret P&ID data from SPID and ensure physical designs meet engineering requirements.
• Lead the mechanical design team during detailed design phases, resolve clashes, and report status.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, mentor junior drafters, and guide project team members.
• Plan and execute design tasks independently while maintaining schedule compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of detailed mechanical plant design experience, including piping, pipe supports, and equipment layout.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (read, speak, write).
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and design teams across disciplines.
• Willingness to work on a hybrid schedule (three days onsite, two days remote).

Required skills

• SmartPlant S3D modeling software.
• Understanding of SPID, SPF integration and clash detection.
• MicroStation and AutoCAD (preferred).
• Microsoft Office suite.
• 3‑D plant layout modeling.
