M&E Cost Manager - Data Center Project

About the role

A leading international consultancy in construction and infrastructure is looking for an experienced Electrical & Mechanical (M&E) Cost Manager to support a major data center project in Portugal. The position is fully site-based in Sines, Monday to Friday, with no rotation or fly-in/fly-out. Salary is up to EUR 90k plus package.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of high-quality M&E cost management services in line with client requirements, supporting senior leadership in delivering business and project objectives
• Prepare and present orders of cost estimates, option studies and cost plans, and manage project budgets, forecasting and cost planning
• Undertake cost-in-use studies and financial assessments, evaluate and report on tenders, value completed works and arrange payments
• Support the settlement of final accounts and administer contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer's Agent
• Produce cost management reports for clients and stakeholders, advise senior leadership on issues affecting delivery or professional risk, and identify cost-related risks and opportunities

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong M&E cost management experience on large-scale construction projects, including data centers, mission-critical or similar complex environments
• Strong post-contract cost management experience and experience with contract administration or Employer's Agent roles
• Fluent English and availability to work on-site in Sines five days per week

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations, and of engineering specifications and industry standards for data center projects
• Construction procurement and tendering strategies
• Good knowledge of building contract legislation
• Numerical and commercial ability, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
