Maintenance & Installation Officer

About the role

The Maintenance & Installation Sub‑Unit at INL is looking for a Maintenance & Installation Officer to guarantee the continuous availability of technical systems and utilities required for laboratory operations. The role blends preventive‑maintenance planning, hands‑on repair, and equipment installation across a range of electrical, mechanical, HVAC and specialised gas systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update the preventive‑maintenance programme in collaboration with the MIM team.
• Inspect machines and equipment to verify compliance with operational standards.
• Identify tools, parts and equipment needed for maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret electrical, electronic, mechanical, HVAC, hydraulic, plumbing, pneumatic and fire‑alarm diagrams.
• Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance methods, equipment performance and service quality.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns and provide immediate support.
• Assemble, install and commission equipment in buildings and laboratories.

Required profile

• Graduate degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in building, industrial, facilities or laboratory environments.
• Proven experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of technical systems, utilities, machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures and safe work practices.
