Junior Category Buyer

About the role

As a Junior Category Buyer you will support the execution of procurement strategies defined by Category Management and act as the main liaison between Category Management and Project Procurement Management. You will ensure that purchases are timely, cost‑efficient and compliant while providing transparency to project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute strategic guidelines from the Category Manager in day‑to‑day procurement activities.
• Run tenders, compare bids and conduct operational negotiations.
• Gather and clarify requirements and specifications from projects and internal departments.
• Provide projects with price, lead‑time and material availability information.
• Create and maintain purchase orders, call‑offs and framework agreements.
• Monitor order status, delivery schedules and handle deviations.
• Support supplier evaluations, performance tracking and ensure compliance with procurement processes.
• Maintain master data and procurement‑related system information.

Required profile

• Commercial or technical education, preferably with procurement training.
• Initial experience in operational or strategic procurement.
• Structured approach to tendering and procurement processes.
• Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.
• Strong documentation discipline and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP / procurement systems (e.g., SAP or comparable).
• Basic knowledge of contract management and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
• Understanding of supplier management and performance tracking.
• Experience with master data management.
• Basic data analysis and KPI evaluation capabilities.
