Junior Accounts Receivable Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our Global Business Services team in Portugal. The role is open for recent graduates or candidates with relevant accounting administrative experience, and will be based in either Coimbra or Lisbon.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate incoming payments to invoices manually or using electronic tools.
• Analyze customer contracts and record them in SAP.
• Issue commercial delivery invoices, credit notes, and advance payment invoices in compliance with legal, accounting and tax regulations.
• Send invoices and supporting documentation to customers via post, email or electronic transmission.
• Verify external documents such as Airway Bills, Bills of Lading, Transfer of Title and customer certificates.
• Prepare debtor statements, monthly reconciliation letters and support the dunning process.
• Conduct bad‑debt analysis, post provisions and manage write‑off postings.
• Analyze balance‑sheet accounts related to receivables and advance payments, prepare ageing reports and support audit processes.
• Develop KPIs and apply internal controls to transaction postings.

Required profile

• Junior accountant (recent graduate) with a Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics degree, or equivalent experience in accounting administrative tasks.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and ability to implement actions.
• Understanding of IFRS and internal financial control standards.
• Capacity to interact with customers from different regions (US/Europe) and translate their needs into concrete actions.
