Java Software Engineer – Digital Manufacturing Solutions

About the role

Join Bosch's Digital Manufacturing Solutions team to develop and maintain Java‑based enterprise applications that support production plants worldwide. You will work in a multicultural environment, collaborating with colleagues in Portugal and Germany to deliver innovative software for the automotive industry.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java‑based enterprise applications used across Bosch production plants worldwide.
• Contribute to digital manufacturing solutions in an international, multi‑site environment (Portugal, Germany).
• Collaborate with plant engineers and internal stakeholders to define, implement and test software features.
• Support the full software development lifecycle: requirements, implementation, testing, peer reviews, documentation, release management, maintenance and user support.
• Coordinate technical topics with external software suppliers and development partners.
• Use modern development and collaboration tools such as ticketing systems, version‑control repositories, configuration‑management and planning/tracking solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation within manufacturing IT systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in Java software development and enterprise application design.
• Practical experience with SQL databases.
