Java Software Engineer (Backend / Fullstack)

About the role

We are looking for a senior Java Software Engineer to join our development team in Portugal. The role involves building and maintaining high‑performance backend and full‑stack applications, working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications using Java 8‑21.
• Implement and enhance backend services, APIs, batch processes, and full‑stack features.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ensure code quality, security, and performance standards are met.
• Collaborate with business, QA, DevOps, and support teams.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide on‑call assistance when needed.
• Work within Agile frameworks (Scrum/Kanban) and follow CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
• Engage in architecture discussions and technical decision‑making.

Required profile

• 4‑5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily with Java.
• Strong knowledge of the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Core, Batch, etc.).
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Sybase.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and micro‑services architectures.
• Proficiency with Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to write clean, well‑tested code and follow unit‑testing practices.
