HVAC Designer

About the role

We are seeking an HVAC Designer to join our client’s maritime team, focusing on marine applications. The role involves creating detailed HVAC designs, duct routing, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure compliant and efficient shipboard systems.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare HVAC design and detailed drawings for marine applications.
• Develop duct routing and equipment layouts for accommodation areas, machinery spaces, and technical/service spaces.
• Produce drawings for galvanized steel and black steel duct systems.
• Detail duct penetrations through bulkheads and decks in coordination with structural drawings.
• Translate engineering calculations and specifications into design drawings.
• Coordinate HVAC layouts with piping, electrical, and structural disciplines.
• Update drawings based on comments from engineers, shipyard, and class societies.
• Assist with material take‑offs and drawing documentation.
• Maintain drawing revisions and design files.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or a related technical discipline.
• 1–3 years of experience as an HVAC Designer or CAD Designer (marine experience preferred).
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and ducting design principles.
• Familiarity with galvanized steel and black steel ductwork.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and understand HVAC layouts, schematics, and specifications.
• Good written and spoken English.
