GL & AP Accountant – Canada & Portugal Operations

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented GL & AP Accountant to support our Canadian and Portuguese operations from Lisbon. You will ensure financial integrity across borders, systems, and teams while taking ownership of key accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and post routine and complex journal entries for Canada and Portugal.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and vendor‑to‑ledger reconciliations.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing activities for both entities.
• Support preparation of financial reports and audit documentation.
• Process vendor invoices, execute weekly payment runs and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Handle vendor inquiries, manage shared mailbox and maintain professional vendor relationships.
• Maintain audit‑ready AP records, monitor payment trends and perform intercompany reconciliations.
• Collaborate with finance, AP, AR and business teams across multiple countries.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of General Ledger accounting experience; AP experience is a plus.
• Experience in international or multi‑entity environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
