General Counsel – Iberia (Portugal & Spain)

About the role

The Iberia General Counsel will lead legal services for Portugal and Spain, supporting the Magnum ICC business in a fast‑moving ice‑cream environment. Reporting to the Iberia leadership team, the role combines compliance oversight, business partnering and strategic legal guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance across competition, business integrity, employment, data‑privacy, anti‑bribery and corporate governance for all operations in Portugal and Spain.
• Partner with the Iberia leadership team and functional areas (marketing, sales, procurement, HR, supply chain, R&D, finance) to embed legal risk management.
• Manage relationships with multiple external counsel, oversee litigation, and coordinate cross‑border legal matters.
• Advise on commercial contracts, supplier and distributor agreements, new product development, and alternative business models.
• Support sales, logistics and finance teams on contractual terms, payment conditions, and regulatory issues.
• Lead regional legal initiatives, contribute to strategic planning and manage the legal department budget.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of experience as a senior lawyer (PQE), with a strong background in corporate, commercial, competition, employment and data‑privacy law.
• Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• Proven ability to manage cross‑border legal work, multiple external counsel relationships and complex litigation.
• Experience budgeting and leading a legal department, as well as driving regional and global legal projects.
• Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks.
