Gardener Team Leader

About the role

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Gardener Team Leader to oversee landscape construction and garden maintenance at its Costa Terra site near Melides, Portugal. You will lead a crew, ensure safety, and deliver high‑quality planting and installation work for residential and resort projects.

Key responsibilities

• Load, unload and transport construction materials to work areas.
• Spread and classify topsoil, plant trees, flowers, grass and other vegetation.
• Operate and maintain garden equipment and powered landscape tools.
• Keep the work site clean, organized and safe, reporting any damage promptly.
• Lead the team in completing assigned tasks within schedule while maintaining excellent customer service.
• Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing, pruning, watering and erosion control.

Required profile

• Minimum 9th year of schooling.
• At least one year of experience in gardening, landscaping or nursery work.
• Knowledge of horticultural methods, plant cultivation and landscape plans.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions.
• Understanding and adherence to safety procedures.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools and power tools relevant to landscaping.
• Operation of powered landscape equipment (e.g., tractors, mowers).
• Interpretation of landscape plans and site layouts.
