Financial Controller – Statutory Reporting & Tax (Portugal)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Financial Controller to join our multinational finance team in Portugal. You will be responsible for preparing statutory financial statements and ensuring full tax compliance in a fast‑paced, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and support the delivery of statutory financial statements in accordance with Portuguese GAAP (SNC).
• Execute corporate income tax (IRC), VAT and other local tax compliance activities accurately and on time.
• Participate in month‑end and year‑end closing, including quarterly balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support external audits and act as the main liaison with auditors and advisors.
• Monitor changes in local accounting and tax regulations and maintain strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional and international teams to ensure audit readiness.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in statutory accounting and tax, preferably within a multinational setting.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting standards (SNC) and local tax regulations.
• Certified Contabilista Certificado (TOC/CC) – mandatory.
• Proven experience supporting Portuguese statutory financial statements.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English.
• Experience working with external audits.
• Exposure to US GAAP and/or IFRS is an advantage.
