Facilities Assistant

About the role

The Facilities Assistant supports the daily operation of King’s College School Cascais, ensuring a safe, clean and well‑maintained learning environment for students and staff. This hands‑on position combines routine maintenance, event logistics and security duties within one of Portugal’s most prestigious international schools.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unblocking drains, minor carpentry and painting, and report complex issues to specialised contractors.
• Set up rooms, move furniture and assist with logistics for teaching, exams, school events and extracurricular activities.
• Conduct daily walk‑abouts to identify hazards, perform weekly safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting) and support evacuation procedures.
• Assist with opening and locking the premises, manage intruder alarms and monitor site access for visitors and contractors.
• Maintain tidy grounds, coordinate with cleaning teams and ensure high hygiene standards across the campus.
• Receive and distribute internal and external mail, deliveries and replenish supplies such as photocopier paper and hygiene products.

Required profile

• Previous experience in facilities maintenance, caretaking or a similar hands‑on role, preferably in an educational or hospitality setting.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Portuguese is highly valued for coordinating with local suppliers and contractors.
