Executive Director – Tourism & Hospitality Institute

About the role

Nova School of Business and Economics is looking for an Executive Director to lead the Westmont Institute of Tourism & Hospitality. The role will shape the institute’s vision, drive sustainable growth, and position it as an international centre of excellence in tourism and hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Academic Director to define the institute’s strategic priorities.
• Engage with commercial organisations in Portugal and abroad to secure support and partnerships.
• Foster a culture of hospitality and customer‑centricity within the institute and its partner networks.
• Develop and deliver impact projects across the institute’s core pillars.
• Ensure sustainable growth and continuous development of the institute.
• Promote the institute internationally and strengthen its reputation.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with academic institutions, companies, and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Hospitality, Tourism, Management, Sustainability, Environmental Studies or a related field.
• Proven management experience in academia, hospitality, tourism or related industries.
• Strong interest in teaching, research and generating impact.
• Familiarity with research funding mechanisms, philanthropy or foundations is an advantage.
• Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
