Environmental Health Services Technician

About the role

The Environmental Health Services Technician ensures a clean, hygienic, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the facility. This onsite position supports FMCNA's mission by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and basic facility upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect all patient‑facing areas, including bathrooms, kitchens, waiting rooms, treatment spaces, and exterior premises.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness (televisions, computers, HVAC units, furniture) and ensure waste is disposed of according to biohazard and recycling policies.
• Manage cleaning supplies, label chemicals, and follow MSDS/HMIS guidelines for safe handling.
• Report maintenance issues such as leaks, clogged drains, or broken fixtures to the appropriate team.
• Perform basic plant repairs (painting, bulb replacement, lock changes, shelf installation) and assist with moving heavy equipment.
• Operate the reverse‑osmosis (RO) machine and conduct initial water‑quality testing.
• Document, label, and dilute disinfectants; clean dialysis preparation and post‑dialysis areas as required.
• Conduct inventory counts, receive supplies, and restock cleaning stations.

Required profile

• Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects.
• Capability to follow safety protocols for chemicals and hazardous materials.
• Attention to detail for thorough cleaning and documentation.

Required skills

• Operation of reverse‑osmosis (RO) machines and water‑quality testing.
• Use of cleaning chemicals in compliance with MSDS/HMIS.
• Inventory management and supply ordering.
• Basic facility maintenance (painting, bulb replacement, minor repairs).
• Cleaning and disinfecting medical equipment and surfaces.
