About the role

We are seeking a dedicated cleaning employee to keep our international school premises in Vasco de Gama clean, safe and welcoming. The role involves daily upkeep of classrooms, corridors, restrooms and other facilities, ensuring a hygienic environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and polishing floors; dust and wipe surfaces, furniture and windowsills; empty and sanitize waste bins.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies and maintain odor‑free conditions.
• Sanitize high‑touch surfaces (door handles, light switches, handrails) regularly.
• Carry out scheduled deep‑cleaning duties including carpet cleaning, window washing, floor stripping and waxing.
• Use and maintain cleaning equipment, report any malfunctions and restock supplies as needed.
• Follow health‑ and safety procedures for handling chemicals and wear appropriate PPE.
• Keep storage areas tidy, report maintenance issues and collaborate with other staff according to daily task lists.

Required profile

• No formal education required; basic literacy and numeracy are helpful.
• Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and ability to work independently while following supervisor instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean learning environment.

Required skills

• Operation of vacuums, floor scrubbers and other cleaning tools.
• Proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and use of personal protective equipment.
• Surface disinfection techniques for high‑touch areas.
