About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated cleaning employee for the academic year 2026/27 to maintain a safe and hygienic learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and polishing floors.
• Maintain restrooms by cleaning, disinfecting fixtures and replenishing supplies.
• Sanitize high‑touch surfaces regularly, including door handles, light switches and handrails.
• Carry out scheduled deep‑cleaning activities like carpet cleaning, window washing and floor stripping/waxing.
• Use and maintain cleaning equipment, reporting any malfunctions and restocking supplies as needed.
• Follow health and safety procedures for chemicals and wear appropriate PPE.
• Keep storage areas tidy and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Collaborate with school staff and follow daily task lists provided by the supervisor.

Required profile

• No formal education required; basic literacy and numeracy are helpful.
• Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within allocated timeframes.
• Reliability, punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Operate vacuums, floor scrubbers and other cleaning tools safely.
• Use mops and other equipment to clean various floor types.
• Sanitize high‑touch surfaces and handle cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines.
• Monitor and restock cleaning supplies as needed.
