Electronic Engineer – Embedded Systems & Sensor Integration

About the role

We are looking for an Electronics and Embedded Systems Engineer to develop and integrate blueOASIS sensing systems across marine platforms such as buoys, USVs and UUVs. The role combines hardware design, sensor interfacing and low‑power firmware development to deliver reliable, platform‑agnostic solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and validate electronic hardware systems.
• Interface and integrate acoustic and non‑acoustic sensors (hydrophones, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, cameras, etc.) into unified platforms.
• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for data acquisition and real‑time processing.
• Implement communication interfaces and power‑management strategies for low‑power, field‑deployed devices.
• Perform laboratory and field testing, debugging and validation.
• Collaborate with acoustics, AI and software teams to ensure seamless hardware‑software integration.
• Produce technical documentation, test reports and integration guidelines.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics fundamentals.
• Experience developing embedded firmware in C or C++.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory testing equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyser).
• Able to debug hardware and firmware issues in integrated systems.
• Familiarity with version‑control systems such as Git.

What we offer

• Hybrid work model – at least three days per week in our Torres Vedras or Faial office.
• 40‑hour week with a one‑year fixed‑term contract (renewable on performance).
• 23 days of vacation, flexible up to 35 days.
• Competitive salary range €1,750 – €2,500 gross per month, based on experience.
