About the role
The District Executive provides professional leadership for the Southeast Region of Scouting America, partnering with volunteers, community organizations, schools, faith‑based institutions, businesses, and civic leaders. This role drives membership growth, volunteer development, fundraising, and program support while delivering quality service to units and families.
Key responsibilities
- Build productive relationships with district committees, commissioners, unit leaders, community partners, and business leaders.
- Recruit, train, guide, and inspire volunteers to achieve district objectives.
- Develop collaborations with schools, faith‑based groups, civic organizations, and other community entities to expand Scouting.
- Meet measurable goals for membership recruitment, retention, new‑unit development, volunteer engagement, and program participation.
- Secure financial support, lead fundraising campaigns, and achieve net‑income objectives for camps, activities, and special events.
- Support units through timely communication, leader meetings, training opportunities, activities, and regular follow‑up.
- Represent Scouting America and the Puerto Rico Council professionally, clearly communicating the mission and value of Scouting.
- Manage priorities, budgets, plans, records, and reporting with high organization and ethical judgment.
- Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet district and council objectives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (official transcript required).
- At least 21 years of age, unless prohibited by applicable law.
- Willingness to accept and meet Scouting America’s leadership and membership standards and to subscribe to the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
- Strong relationship‑building, communication, public‑speaking, and presentation abilities.
- Background in marketing, fundraising, sales, nonprofit management, community engagement, or program development is highly desirable.
- Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, creative, and results‑oriented.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, budgeting, planning, and follow‑through skills with a commitment to high ethical standards.
