District Executive

About the role

The District Executive provides professional leadership for the Southeast Region of Scouting America, partnering with volunteers, schools, faith‑based groups, businesses and civic leaders to grow and strengthen Scouting. This mission‑driven role focuses on membership growth, volunteer development, fundraising and program support for units and families.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain productive relationships with district committees, commissioners, unit leaders and community partners.
• Recruit, train, guide and inspire volunteers to meet district objectives.
• Develop collaborations with schools, faith‑based organizations, civic groups and other community entities to expand Scouting.
• Achieve measurable goals for membership recruitment, retention, new‑unit development, volunteer engagement and program participation.
• Secure financial support, lead fundraising campaigns and meet net‑income targets for camps, activities and special events.
• Provide timely communication, leader meetings, training opportunities and follow‑up support to units.
• Represent Scouting America and the Puerto Rico Council professionally, clearly communicating the mission and value of Scouting.
• Manage priorities, budgets, plans, records and reporting with high organization and ethical judgment.

Required profile

• Strong relationship‑building, communication and public‑speaking abilities.
• Background in marketing, fundraising, sales, nonprofit management, community engagement or program development.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences and build trust with volunteers, families, donors and partners.
• Self‑motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, creative and results‑oriented.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, budgeting and planning skills.
