Design Automation Engineer

About the role

EQVAL Group, Inc. is seeking a motivated Design Automation Engineer to develop and implement automated equipment and systems for its manufacturing customers in the medical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The role involves working on‑site in Puerto Rico with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable automation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and program PLCs, primarily Siemens and Allen‑Bradley platforms.
• Integrate and troubleshoot vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.
• Support robotic automation projects using FANUC and ABB robots.
• Create and maintain CAD models, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Ensure designs comply with safety, quality and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
• Minimum 2 years experience in a regulated industry (pharma, biotech or medical devices).
• Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, vision systems and robotics.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electrical schematics.
