Database Administrator – Distributed Cloud

About the role

Devoteam is looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join its Distributed Cloud team in Lisbon. You will provide end‑to‑end support for the database layer of mission‑critical services, working on a variety of platforms and participating in international projects.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure high availability, performance and security of all supported database systems.
• Perform daily operational tasks such as backups, recovery, patching, upgrades and monitoring across multiple platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents in high‑stress environments.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimise query performance and database design.
• Contribute to international projects involving database migration, infrastructure evolution and technology standardisation.
• Provide expertise and recommendations on database architecture and technology choices.

Required profile

• Solid expertise in at least two database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL/EDB, Microsoft SQL Server).
• Good working knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or procedural language (PSQL, TSQL, SQL, PL/SQL, Perl, PowerShell, Python).
• Upper‑intermediate (B2) written and spoken English.
• Degree in IT, Maths, Physics, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
