Data Engineering Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineering Lead to join our global Data and Analytics team at Metyis’ Digital Campus in Porto. The role involves leading end‑to‑end data handling, management and analytics processes for our clients, while collaborating with senior stakeholders and data scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Interact regularly with senior client stakeholders to drive impactful change.
• Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines, visualization, and analytics products, including automated services and APIs.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists throughout the data lifecycle—from acquisition to visualization.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap aligned with overall architecture strategies.
• Own the architecture, ensuring technical and non‑technical components deliver customer needs.
• Develop digital solutions using Python, Spark, RESTful APIs, and Microsoft Azure Cloud.
• Maintain technical excellence, adhering to digital frameworks, best practices, and standards.
• Coach and enable team members to deliver best‑in‑class data products.
• Deliver data platforms, data lakes/hubs, recommendation systems, dashboards, and other data insights.
• Lead project activities and evaluate business requirements with stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Proven experience developing and deploying ETL solutions on Azure, GCP or AWS.
• Strong knowledge of data‑warehousing concepts (ODS, data marts, data lakes, data vault, 3NF).
• Good understanding of cloud‑based digital development, advanced analytics environments, and version control (GitHub).
