Data Engineering Intern – Lisbon

About the role

Unbabel, part of TransPerfect, is looking for a curious Data Engineering Intern to join its Data Platform team in Lisbon. You will work with large‑scale translation data, building and maintaining the pipelines that power core products and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain batch and streaming ETL pipelines in a production environment.
• Develop and test high‑quality code for ETL pipelines using Python and Spark.
• Work with structured and unstructured data from MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Apply data‑warehousing techniques on a cloud‑based stack (Databricks).
• Monitor, test, and validate data to ensure high data‑quality standards.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts and other technical teams to translate business requirements into data solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot data systems, and document work to improve team processes.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field (ongoing Master’s accepted).
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
• Comfortable with SQL and structured databases.
• Interest in data engineering, cloud services and big data.
• Curiosity, willingness to learn, and eagerness to ask questions and seek feedback.
