Data Engineer

About the role

Mercer is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Data & Analytics team in Lisbon. The position is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week on‑site, and focuses on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines using Databricks, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Alteryx or Knime.
• Implement data quality and governance frameworks, monitor data integrity, and support business intelligence tools.
• Collaborate with analytics, business, and engineering teams to define long‑term data platform architecture.
• Document technical designs, workflows, and best practices; mentor peers as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., computer science, statistics).
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks and ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Alteryx or Knime.
• Proficiency in SQL/PLSQL development and Python programming.
