Data Engineer

About the role

Mercer is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Data & Analytics team in Lisbon. The role is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week in the office, and focuses on building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines using Databricks, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Alteryx or Knime.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models and support BI tools.
• Implement data quality, governance, and monitoring frameworks across production sources.
• Document technical designs and provide mentorship to peers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics).
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks and SQL/PLSQL development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big‑data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
