Cybersecurity Advisor – Startup Security & Compliance

About the role

Blaze Information Security is expanding its advisory services for tech startups and scale‑ups. We are seeking a hands‑on Cybersecurity Advisor who will work directly with founders, product, engineering and operations teams to build practical security, risk and compliance foundations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver security and compliance advisory engagements for early‑stage tech companies.
• Assess client security posture, identify gaps and define realistic next steps.
• Design core elements of a cybersecurity program – policies, controls, risk‑management practices and internal processes.
• Create tailored security roadmaps aligned with each client’s stage, business model and compliance goals.
• Guide clients through SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS 2 and DORA readiness initiatives.
• Act as a day‑to‑day trusted advisor, simplifying complex security decisions.
• Collaborate with Blaze’s technical teams to link advisory work with penetration testing, validation and remediation.
• Support pre‑sales scoping and contribute to improving delivery templates and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cybersecurity consulting, advisory, GRC or security program development.
• Hands‑on work with clients on security policies, controls, compliance or risk‑related projects.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS 2 and DORA.
• Strong communication skills, able to translate technical issues into business language.
• Practical mindset with sound judgment for companies with limited resources.
