About the role
Dorado Academy is seeking a full‑time, on‑site College Advisor to guide students and families through every step of the college planning process. The advisor will work closely with learners to explore post‑secondary options, understand admission requirements, and build realistic application timelines.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group advising sessions on college selection, course planning, and application strategies.
- Assist students with essay drafting, application completion, and submission of recommendation letters and transcripts.
- Provide up‑to‑date information on scholarships, financial aid, and grant opportunities.
- Organize college visits, informational sessions, and workshops for students and families.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to align academic pathways with college goals.
- Maintain accurate advising records and stay current on admissions trends.
- Communicate regularly with families and community partners regarding student progress.
Required profile
- Demonstrated expertise in college applications, including essay guidance and timeline management.
- Strong communication skills with students, families, faculty, and external institutions.
- Experience in student counseling and academic advising, preferably in a college‑prep environment.
- Knowledge of financial‑aid processes, scholarships, grants, and loans.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Guidance Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in a school or college‑advising setting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple deadlines.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Strong organizational and time‑management abilities, comfortable with student information systems and standard office software.
