Cloud Governance Engineer

About the role

Five9 is a leading provider of cloud contact‑center software, focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences. As a Cloud Governance Engineer you will define and enforce the policies that keep our multi‑cloud estate secure, cost‑effective and compliant. This role is centered on governance, not on building or operating infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Define, document and maintain cloud governance policies across GCP, AWS and Azure, implementing them with GCP Organization Policy, AWS SCPs/Config and Azure Policy.
• Own the end‑to‑end exception and waiver process, including intake, risk assessment, approval, expiry and follow‑up.
• Partner with Security to enforce IAM and network security standards and review access models for least‑privilege.
• Build dashboards tracking security posture, credential rotation, policy violations, configuration drift and remediation times.
• Drive cost governance through spend visibility, anomaly detection, discount coverage reviews and waste reduction.
• Collaborate with IT, Finance, Security, DevOps, Cloud Architects and Product Engineering to keep controls consistent and translate technical risk for stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4+ years working in public cloud environments, with at least 2 years hands‑on GCP experience.
• Experience implementing preventative guardrails in a hyperscaler (e.g., GCP Organization Policy, AWS SCPs, Azure Policy).
• Proven ability to author cloud policies that other teams must follow.
• Experience managing an exception or waiver process for cloud controls.
• Strong knowledge of cloud IAM, network security, encryption and secret management.
