Cemetery Services Specialist (Union)

About the role

The Cemetery Services Specialist supports the respectful handling of interments, entombments, inurnments and disinterments while maintaining the cemetery grounds and facilities. This union‑represented position ensures that memorials, markers and burial sites are prepared, installed and cared for according to company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform openings and closings for burials, entombments and inurnments.
• Set, install and assemble foundations, memorials and markers.
• Install outer burial containers and complete work orders from client families.
• Respond to service requests, conduct interment verification and prepare a 25‑foot radius around burial sites.
• Fill graves, tamp soil, and seed or sod as needed.
• Maintain equipment and facilities through preventive maintenance.
• Keep work areas clean, adhere to safety rules and complete required training.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of experience operating standard equipment.
• Acceptable driving record and licenses required for equipment/vehicle operation.
• Ability to lift objects up to 30 lb and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of safety and security procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand‑held tools such as shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw and pump.
• Experience operating mechanical equipment including dump truck, tractor, utility vehicle, marker trailer, dump trailer, jack hammer, tamper and backhoe.
• Accurate use of measuring devices like tape measure and yardstick.
