Cemetery Services Specialist

About the role

The Cemetery Services Specialist supports the daily operations of a cemetery, handling interments, entombments, inurnments, disinterments, and the installation and maintenance of memorials and markers. This role ensures a respectful, safe, and well‑maintained environment for families and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform openings and closings for burials, entombments, and inurnments.
• Set, install, and assemble foundations, memorials, and markers.
• Install outer burial containers and handle work orders from client families.
• Conduct interment verification procedures and prepare a 25‑foot radius area for burials.
• Fill graves, tamp soil, and seed or sod as needed.
• Maintain equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and keep work areas clean and orderly.
• Complete required training courses and adhere to company safety and service standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience operating standard equipment.
• Acceptable driving record and appropriate licenses for equipment/vehicles.
• Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand‑held tools such as shovels, picks, rakes, sledge hammers, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, chain saws, and pumps.
• Operation of mechanical equipment including dump trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, marker trailers, dump trailers, jack hammers, tampers, and backhoes.
• Accurate use of measuring devices like tape measures and yardsticks.
