Buyer – Copper and Zinc Mine

About the role

SOMINCOR, an underground copper and zinc mine in the Alentejo region of Portugal owned by Boliden, is strengthening its Procurement team with a Buyer. Reporting to the Procurement area, the Buyer manages sourcing and contracting across a broad portfolio of services and materials, working closely with Maintenance, Engineering and Project teams so that operational needs are met on time, at the right cost and with the right quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and procurement processes for services and materials contracts, supporting operations, maintenance and project needs.
• Run RFI/RFQ processes end-to-end: market research, supplier identification, technical and commercial evaluation and negotiation.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, ensuring technical, commercial and legal alignment.
• Partner with Maintenance, Engineering and Project teams to turn operational needs into clear scopes of work and specifications.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, and help improve Procurement processes.
• Support cost analysis, budget tracking and reporting for the contracts managed.

Required profile

• Experience in procurement, preferably in an industrial environment.
• Proven experience purchasing services and/or materials, ideally including spare parts, industrial maintenance and supply and installation projects.
• Demonstrated sourcing skills: market research, supplier identification and qualification, and competitive negotiation.
• Good written and spoken English is essential; good knowledge of SAP ERP is an advantage.
• Excellent Office skills, especially Excel and Word.
• Availability to relocate, given the location of the operation.
