Business Development Manager

About the role

UMAI is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive restaurant acquisition in Porto, Portugal. The role is fully based in Porto and focuses on generating leads, building relationships with restaurant owners, and expanding UMAI’s footprint in the local food‑tech market.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new restaurant brands across Porto through cold‑calling, walk‑ins and email outreach.
• Conduct in‑person meetings with restaurant owners and management to present UMAI’s software solutions.
• Maintain ongoing relationships, provide excellent customer service and set realistic partnership expectations.
• Stay informed about new restaurant openings and attend industry events to network and generate leads.

Required profile

• 2‑5 years of sales experience, preferably in a consultative, short‑cycle environment.
• Self‑starter with a “hustle” attitude, comfortable with ambiguity and results‑driven.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in F&B or startup ecosystems.
• Native Portuguese speaker residing in Porto, able to travel for client meetings.
• Good written and spoken English.
