Backend PHP Developer (Laravel) – Permanent – Lisbon

About the role

We are looking for a Backend PHP Developer to join our brand‑new Technology Hub in Lisbon. You will work on a Claims Management System and other business applications for a leading insurance services group, collaborating with engineers in France and delivering high‑quality backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend features using PHP 8.x and Laravel.
• Build, document and support REST APIs consumed by front‑end applications and external partners.
• Design, optimise and maintain MySQL databases for performance and scalability.
• Implement asynchronous processes such as queues, jobs and scheduled tasks.
• Write automated tests with PHPUnit and Pest to ensure reliability and code coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and monitor application performance.

Required profile

• Strong experience with PHP 8.x and the Laravel framework.
• Proficiency in building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of MySQL database design and optimisation.
• Experience with version control (Git) and automated testing.
• Ability to work onsite in Lisbon and collaborate with distributed teams.
