Backend PHP Developer – Laravel (Permanent, Lisbon)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend PHP Developer to join our new Technology Hub in Lisbon. You will work on a Claims Management System and other business applications, building robust services that power critical insurance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend features using PHP 8.x and Laravel.
• Build, document, and maintain REST APIs for front‑end applications and external partners.
• Design, optimise, and maintain MySQL databases for performance and scalability.
• Develop asynchronous processes, including queues, jobs, and scheduled tasks.
• Write automated tests with PHPUnit and Pest to ensure reliability and code coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and best‑practice improvements.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to security and stability.

Required profile

• Strong experience with PHP 8.x and the Laravel framework.
• Proficiency in building and consuming REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of MySQL database design and optimisation.
• Experience with automated testing using PHPUnit or Pest.
• Ability to work collaboratively with front‑end developers, product teams, and operations.
