Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Developer to join the Innovation & Engineering Hub in Lisbon. You will work in the R2D2 team, building a connected vehicle data product that enables data scientists, engineers and digital services to access vehicle data at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure in the automotive IoT context.
• Drive implementation and maintenance of functionality for our trucks using agile methodologies, contributing to the technical roadmap.
• Design and create products, prototypes, and MVPs for near‑vehicle services.
• Architect and manage cloud‑native microservices with containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs, and event streaming.
• Validate compatibility with embedded systems using hardware test setups.
• Provide expert advice on backend and tool development, continuously improving services, tooling, and processes.
• Proactively identify and solve problems across the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience in backend development within an agile environment.
• Ability to take full ownership of products from design to operation, including validation with embedded systems.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and capacity to advise cross‑functional teams.
