Application Support Engineer – Banking Sector

About the role

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to provide L2/L3 support for banking applications, ensuring rapid service restoration, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve technical and functional issues (L2/L3), perform root‑cause analysis and restore services quickly.
• Oversee day‑to‑day execution of batch processing, data transfers and workflow monitoring.
• Orchestrate software releases and hardware infrastructure updates while minimizing business disruption.
• Implement and supervise monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus and Grafana to analyse load and health.
• Develop automation scripts in Python or Bash and use Ansible for task automation, log parsing and health checks.
• Create and maintain runbooks, documentation and operating procedures to support team scalability.
• Analyse application performance and user feedback to propose functional or technical upgrades.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Linux (RHEL 7/8, SLES, Ubuntu), including system administration and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in SQL with ability to optimise queries, analyse execution plans and perform basic DBA tasks.
• Professional experience with Python, Bash/Shell scripting and Ansible playbook authoring.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, Docker and Kubernetes (basic pod debugging and log aggregation).
• Understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes and experience with ticketing tools such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
