AI Engineer – Build Intelligent Solutions

About the role

Mercedes-Benz.io is looking for an AI Engineer to shape the next generation of AI‑powered products and experiences. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, turning cutting‑edge models into reliable, production‑grade solutions that add real business value.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex problems and decide where AI‑driven reasoning adds value versus deterministic software.
• Select and evaluate models, frameworks, and technologies balancing quality, latency, scalability, cost and production readiness.
• Design, build and operate AI systems, including single‑agent and multi‑agent architectures.
• Develop AI‑powered applications using LLMs, prompts, structured outputs, tool‑calling and orchestration logic.
• Build retrieval and knowledge systems with pipelines, embeddings, chunking and grounding mechanisms.
• Implement Responsible AI practices such as guardrails, privacy, security, auditability and human oversight.
• Define evaluation strategies, create test datasets and conduct regression testing.
• Ensure production reliability through monitoring, tracing, logging and performance management.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with ability to decompose complex business challenges.
• Experience delivering production‑ready AI solutions at scale.
• Familiarity with responsible AI principles and regulatory compliance.
