Advanced Analytics Engineer

About the role

Mercer is looking for an Advanced Analytics Engineer to join its Data Analytics team in Lisbon, supporting Oliver Wyman’s new hub. This hybrid position requires at least three days a week in the office and focuses on building scalable data solutions for advanced analytics, machine learning and AI.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable data pipelines using PySpark and Databricks.
• Build workflows to ingest, process and transform structured and unstructured data.
• Develop reusable data models and datasets for analytics and AI use cases.
• Integrate external systems and enterprise platforms through APIs and modern data interfaces.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists and business stakeholders to support MCP integrations and AI‑driven workflows.
• Implement data quality, governance, monitoring and observability best practices.
• Optimise performance of distributed data processing environments and support batch and real‑time architectures.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DataOps practices.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Self‑starter with ownership mindset and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.
• Collaborative attitude and ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, AI and business teams.
