About the role

As a Linux Systems Administrator – Infrastructure and Security based in Funchal, you will manage, secure and evolve the infrastructure supporting websites, landing pages, internal platforms and digital operations. You will collaborate with technical and development teams to handle Linux servers, hosting environments, domains, DNS, email, SSL, backups, monitoring and security controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Linux‑based production servers and hosting environments, including WHM/cPanel, CloudLinux, Apache, PHP‑FPM and MariaDB/MySQL.
• Administer domains, DNS (including Route 53, DNSSEC), SSL certificates and email services, and perform migrations of accounts, websites and databases.
• Implement server hardening, firewall rules, MFA, VPN access, ModSecurity, Imunify360 and other security controls.
• Monitor server performance, storage, memory, CPU and network usage, and handle backups, disaster‑recovery testing and restore verification.
• Automate recurring tasks with Bash, APIs, Python or Ansible and document infrastructure changes, incidents and recovery procedures.

Required profile

• Three or more years of professional Linux system administration experience in production environments.
• Strong security mindset with experience in server hardening, firewall configuration, MFA, VPN and vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks based on risk and business impact, and communicate effectively in English.

Required skills

• Linux administration (AlmaLinux, CloudLinux, Rocky Linux, RHEL, Ubuntu).
• WHM/cPanel management with root‑level access.
• Web stack: Apache, PHP‑FPM, MariaDB/MySQL.
• DNS and SSL management, including Route 53, DNSSEC and automated certificate renewal.
• Security tools: ModSecurity, Imunify360, firewalls, MFA, VPN.
• Scripting and automation: Bash, Python, Ansible.
