Accounting & Tax Officer

About the role

TMF Group is seeking an Accounting & Tax Officer to join its Portugal team. You will manage a portfolio of international clients, ensuring accurate accounting, tax compliance and timely reporting while collaborating closely with senior Account Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Record journal entries, including complex calculations.
• Prepare account reconciliation files and corporate reporting outputs.
• Collect supporting documents and complete VAT, WHT, Intrastat and CIT filings.
• Upload tax data to submission platforms and generate SAFT files.
• Draft first versions of annual accounts and populate final statutory forms.
• Extract reports from the ERP system and assist audit teams with required documentation.
• Handle basic client correspondence (invoices, bank statements) via email.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management or Finance.
• 2–4 years of professional accounting experience.
• Experience interacting directly with clients.
• Solid knowledge of VAT, WHT, Intrastat and Corporate Income Tax.
• Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and proper document archiving.
• Intermediate level of English.
