Accountant – Renewable Energy (Porto)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join our renewable energy team in Porto. You will support the financial health of a fast‑growing, international group that develops wind, solar, waste‑to‑energy and green hydrogen projects.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and expense reports.
• Prepare and review financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Monitor and analyse financial data to identify trends and provide insights for business decisions.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, local tax legislation, and internal procedures.
• Support the preparation of tax returns, VAT filings, and statutory reporting.
• Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
• Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors or regulatory bodies as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development of financial systems and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in an international or fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and local tax legislation.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Highly organised, proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Primavera or Sage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
